As someone who has been doing this specifically in DV since 1996, and in film since 1963, of course I agree. The difficulty is that the corrosion of cinematic/artistic values runs parallel to the corruption of our societies in general: the grim philosophy and ideology that "The Market Economy" is sin qua non of human endeavors has pretty much rotted out much of the world, literally and metaphorically. It is going to be a long slog to dig out of the mountain of shit which we've been buried in. But we're hopeful and there seem to be signs that we're near the bottom. Only one way to go then.
