Peter Savieri Scriptwriter and designer.

This manifesto reflects passionate conversations I have shared with my contemporaries for YEARS. It is always important to lend support to those who see the problem, and the solution, with clarity and intelligence.

My collaborator Ben Hackworth and I last year completed an entirely independent feature, Corroboree, which has shown at Australian festivals as well as in Toronto and soon Berlin. With strength of purpose and vision, we can all inspire a move away from the tired productions flooding the market.

As someone who has been doing this specifically in DV since 1996, and in film since 1963, of course I agree. The difficulty is that the corrosion of cinematic/artistic values runs parallel to the corruption of our societies in general: the grim philosophy and ideology that "The Market Economy" is sin qua non of human endeavors has pretty much rotted out much of the world, literally and metaphorically. It is going to be a long slog to dig out of the mountain of shit which we've been buried in. But we're hopeful and there seem to be signs that we're near the bottom. Only one way to go then.

Friday 01-02-2008 at 20:15 hour in Lantaren 2
Saturday 02-02-2008 at 12:30 hour in Lantaren 2
